Stage 01 – Assessing your child:
When joining Curricular Tuition, an initial assessment will take place to establish the current academic standard of a prospective pupil.
Their reading and comprehension abilities will be analysed in order to set a base level.
Collaboration with parents will then follow to allow for tailored educational goals and requirements.

Stage 02 – Placing your child:
Following this, Curricular Tuition will continue to analyse each individual student. This will include:
- Assessing their school reports
- Consulting with the proposed tutor following the baseline assessments
- Identifying their current strengths and weaknesses
This in-depth approach is in place so that every attempt can be made to match the pupil with a tutor we feel is most compatible with your child’s personality.

As some pupils/families will have multiple tutors from Curricular Tuition, the report will include ability markers, areas which need to be improved and a comment from the Managing Director, Shelley Stoll, to ensure your child is receiving the very best support throughout their time with us.

OUR SUBJECTS

PRIMARY
Children in their initial school years take to education in a variety of ways. Some may develop early barriers to their learning whilst others show a gift in particular areas of enthusiasm.
Here at Curricular Tuition, our team are passionate about fostering a love of learning, ensuring that any young children’s interests are channelled – establishing a receptive mindset whilst cementing the building block foundations so that all pupils can flourish.
We take a holistic approach to tutoring, ensuring that great importance is placed on the well-being of our students, as well as their academic achievement, so that they feel confident enough to display the most capable version of themselves in their school life and beyond.
11+, TRANSITION & KEY STAGE 3
Whether your child is currently in Year 6 – sitting their 11+ Common Entrance Exams, SATs or specifically designed school examinations, or are finding difficulties with their early secondary school studies, Curricular Tuition’s wide breadth of experience will be able to support your child, building on their strengths and improving their weaknesses.
We will focus on developing their confidence levels. Your child’s skill base will be expanded to meet the necessary requirements of their level and beyond, so that they may be able to excel at secondary school, establishing a firm knowledge base leading into GCSE/IGCSE.
KEY STAGE 4 AND GCSE/IGCSE
Key Stage 4 and the GCSE/IGCSE years can become a daunting prospect for many students who are looking to excel in their examinations, but who find it difficult to balance the workload across all of their subjects.
The Curricular Tuition team recognises that no two students are alike, and therefore an individualised approach tailored to each child’s strengths and areas of focus is an ethos that drives each lesson.
Alongside a detailed knowledge of the curriculum, our team has decades of experience across the ever-changing specifications and exam style questions, establishing themselves as well versed across all the exam boards. (AQA, CIE, EdExcel, OCR, IB, iGCSE).
Through regular pupil tracking and accompanying parental progress updates, each student will be provided with the necessary exam tools, to fully achieve their potential and crucially keep an eye on the “bigger picture”, whilst simultaneously enjoying their learning experience.
KS5, FURTHER EDUCATION AND UNIVERSITY
Having achieved specialist degrees and becoming experts in their chosen fields, our tutors have a wealth of knowledge and experience extending beyond Key Stage 4, where they are able to continue to support your child with the subjects they feel most passionate about.
Curricular Tuition understands the importance of cementing genuine relationships with its students whilst establishing open, honest and authentic dialogues. This in turn allows for parallels to be drawn between what is being studied, and students’ own life experiences, allowing for a deeper level of learning. The challenge moving into further education, is to find the right balance for students already achieving Grades 7, 8 or 9 at Key Stage 4. Our tutors work closely with each student to determine the most effective ways of learning, informed through their understanding of assessment requirements and exam criteria, engendering this by creating a supportive and challenging environment of study.
Curricular Tuition are also able to provide further support for those who have progressed their studies beyond Key Stage 5, aiding with University applications and dissertations.
SEN/SEND AND PASTORAL CARE
SEND can be identified at an early age and for some pupils, this can emerge later. Curricular Tuition will observe and monitor assessments of pupils regularly, and note students who may be making less progress than expected. We have made provision for an educational psychologist to assess your child should the need arise.
